I’m Elisa O’Donovan, the Social Democrats General Election candidate for Limerick City and Councillor for Limerick City West.
I live in Limerick City Centre and work as a Speech and Language Therapist. I have been elected twice to represent the people of Limerick City West on Limerick Council. I have previously worked for the HSE, Headway, the Disability Federation of Ireland, and Mental Health Reform, and am a current member of the Regional Health Forum. I bring decades of experience to Limerick Council as a front-line healthcare worker.
I love running, cycling, and swimming, and can be found most Saturday mornings at Mungret parkrun. In 2017, I established #SwimableLimerick, an initiative to promote social swimming in the River Shannon in Limerick City. I have two Deel Animal Rescue cats named Mittens and Socks. I am a strong advocate for culture and the arts in Limerick, especially for youth theatre and creativity.
I want Limerick people to have an honest voice in Dáil Éireann that they can trust—a voice that they know will speak up for the experiences of people across ALL communities, and in particular for Limerick women, as there is no woman representing Limerick at national level now. I am never afraid to ask hard questions, and I will not let you down.
Together, we can build a bright future for Limerick.
My vision for Limerick is very clear. I want to build a Limerick that is fair, creative, prosperous and healthy. I want to build safer spaces for everyone in our city and county. I want to prioritise better public services and amenities so we can build strong and healthy communities
